What AVID is:

AVID is an acronym that stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. AVID is a year-long academic elective/fifth core that helps prepare ALL students for advanced classes, college eligibility, and success. The mission of AVID is to ensure that these students will become educated and responsible participants and leaders in society.

The AVID student:

The AVID student is someone who has the desire to go to college and the willingness to work hard. These are students who are capable of completing rigorous curriculum but may be falling short of their potential. AVID helps to put these students on the college track: acceleration instead of remediation. Students are selected into the AVID program after completing an application and receiving teacher recommendations.

Please complete the application and return to Ms. Popper (room 25) by May 6, 2016.
