Our Principal
An interview with Ms. Gutierrez By Athena Landy and Zack Kennedy
Hey everyone! We sat down with our fearless leader to learn a little more about her. Read and find out!
Jigsaw:What do you do when you are not the principal at Hamilton? Gutierrez: Well I have a life (laughs). I love to read and go hiking. I especially love seeing my family in Kansas.”
Jigsaw: What are three qualities of a good student? Gutierrez: Well one of the best qualities of a student is that the student is respectful to themselves and others. Good students also should be inquisitive and willing to learn everything they can. Lastly, students should not be afraid to fail; because, you see, when students are afraid of failing, they end up getting too worked up and worried to do their best, and they mess things up. Life is about learning from your mistakes.
J. What are the qualities of a good teacher? G. Well the teachers have to know their subjects, of course. They set standards for themselves and their students. Teachers should acquire the ability to share their knowledge and talents. It’s essential for students to learn about their subject, but their teacher as well.
J. What was your middle school experience like? G. “I loved it! That’s why I enjoy being the Principal of a middle school. My favorite subject was science. In fact, I was a science teacher before I became a principal. I also LOVED drama.”
J. “What did you want to be when you were younger?” G.“I really wanted to be an astronomer. I love the stars.”
