Denver Health: School Oral Health Program

Posted December 10, 2021

This program is available to all DPS schools that meet the 30% and above Free and Reduced Lunch requirements. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us using the information below.

Services Provided (all free):

  1. Dental Screening
  2. Dental Sealants
  3. Fluoride Varnish applications
  4. Referral for dental care (for those children who exhibit oral disease which requires the immediate attention of a dentist).
  5. A follow-up screening for referred students with another application of fluoride
  6. Take home oral hygiene kit

Providers:

  • Registered Dental Hygienists (RDH) employed by Denver Health provide all services.

Students receiving services:

  • 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and 7th grade students (the approximate age when second molars erupt) receive appropriate services. Historically, this program has primarily served 2nd and 6th grade students, but since we were unable to offer services during the 2020-2021 school year, we would like to extend services to 3rd and 7th grade students.
  • In schools with a lower consent rate, we can open services to other grades.

The Denver Health Dental Sealant program will be at our school soon! This program provides screenings, fluoride, and sealants at no cost to you. Sealants and fluoride are pain-free and quick ways to prevent cavities. Click here to sign your student up!

If you have any questions, reach out to our HMS nurse Regan Thornburg.
