Help kids who are feeling stressed or anxious about winter break

  1. Acknowledge that the stress and anxiety exist: Letting kids know that you know that this can be a hard time for them helps them to feel more at ease. Talking openly about the stresses of the holidays allows kids to be less hard on themselves for any negative feelings that exist.
  2. Go over some stress-reduction techniques: Breathing techniques, body relaxation, mental imaging, and writing work to reduce stress.
  3. Be a listening ear
  4. Encourage students to participate in activities such as  listening to music, painting or coloring, or playing a card game
