Information About Quarter 3

  • More key points in our return to hybrid learning:
    • Our student cohort and academic quarter model will continue, as we believe our students must have academic and social consistency.
    • Our model will be hybrid, involving instruction to students who are virtual and those in-person. Students who selected in-person learning will alternate for in-person instruction throughout the week. Again, we believe it is imperative to maintain our student and teacher relationships in our model and the academic sequence we have had throughout the year.
    • Some teaching and instructional staff must have health accommodations. In these cases, Hamilton staff will support supervision and instruction in person.
    • Due to needs for training staff, safely implementing our health protocols, setting up our classrooms, training on hybrid learning technology, and more logistical factors, we will pivot to hybrid learning in a strategically-phased manner.
    • Special education center-based programming will launch hybrid learning first, in the week of January 11th.
    • Students who selected in-person learning will have in-person orientation days to learn safety and health protocols. These days will occur on January 20, 21, and 22. More details will follow.
    • Our hybrid model will be fully launched by February 1, 2021. Students who selected in-person learning will alternate days for in-building learning.
    • No transportation is available by DPS for students, except for those with IEP-mandated transportation services.
    • I will announce two dates in the coming three weeks for “asynchronous” learning days, when students will be assigned independent learning, while teachers are trained more in-depth, classrooms are set up, and we are fully prepared for this pivot to hybrid learning.
    • We will teach our students on all of this throughout January so everyone is well prepared for our pivot to hybrid learning
