Interim Principal of Hamilton Middle School

Posted

Dear Hamilton Community,

It is my pleasure to introduce myself as the Interim Principal of Hamilton Middle School during the time that Ms. Mendoza will be on leave. I am a retired principal from DPS and have more than two decades of administrator experience as well as 12 years of teaching experience. It is a joy for me to once again serve as the educational leader of a middle school.  It is my strong belief that learning experiences cultivate a love for learning which remains with students forever and becomes the foundation of all their future learning.

I began my assignment on Monday of this week and will spend a few more weeks until Ms. Mendoza returns. I have had the support of our two AP’s, numerous staff, as well as the regional superintendents to help me become familiar with Hamilton. I have introduced myself to most of the students and staff. Hamilton, as have other schools, has had some challenging times over the past year and a half with COVID and students being instructed remotely rather than in school. I am certain that students are finding middle school a bit of a challenge as the last time both our sixth and seventh grade students were in school was in elementary and our eighth grade students were not able to complete their 6th grade year in the building.  They are adjusting and we will continue to support them to the best of our abilities.

During the coming weeks, I look forward to visiting classrooms frequently, working together with teachers to support learning opportunities for our students, and getting to know students and parents. If you ever have a concern or a question, please don’t hesitate to contact me at Wesley_Montoya@dpsk12.org.

I am confident that together, working as a team of students, parents, teachers, staff, and administration we can build on the excellent foundation that is Hamilton School and continue to enable our students to learn and achieve their fullest potential.

Sincerely,

Dr. Wes Montoya
Interim Principal
