FOR PARENTS WHO HAVE YOUNG PEOPLE AT HOME: A VIDEO PRESENTATION ON RISK PREVENTION AND EDUCATION FOR ADOLESCENTS.
The goal of this video presentation is to discuss teen violence, self-destructive behaviors, and risk factors with a focus on how adults can provide guidance and gain teen trust. So far, the focus of intervention with students has been on only half of the vital problems of raising adolescents. However, this approach is limited and does not address the important role that adults play in the growth and development of young people. It is easy to understand why this happens. Most activities and clubs offered by schools are open to and appealing to teens. While adults (parents) in some cases are seen as too busy, they avoid topics important to young people or their availability is very limited. Even so, their role in the development of young people, within families, at school and in the community is very important. Adults are the building block to prevent adolescents from being permanently at risk and develop tools to defend themselves and develop successfully.
