Application for Student Meal Benefits
All Hamilton families should complete this application as it helps the school receive funds. The submission and approval of a Household Application for Student Meal Benefits provide advantages beyond eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals. It also helps ensure students receive the maximum amount of benefits they are eligible for, including discounts on bus passes and some school fees, such as athletics, and reduced AP testing fees. It ensures schools receive additional resources to support healthy meals for students and after-school programs. Your assistance in completing and submitting the Household Application for Student Meal Benefits is greatly appreciated and has the potential to help all DPS schools. Apply now at myschoolapps.com. If you have questions, please email foodservices@dpsk12.org.
In case you missed the info session about the Parent Teacher Home Visit Program, check out the slide deck and interest form here.

Papermaking in Mexico goes back to 300 BCE. The original ‘paper’ used by Aztecs was tree bark called amate. It was washed, boiled, beaten with stones, and left to dry in the sun. (We take modern paper for granted, don’t we?!) The people then inscribed it with images or script and used it as a form of communication.
Indigenous groups in Central Mexico have preserved this tradition. Many artists still make amate paper in the historical way. The bark is stripped from mulberry, nettle, and wild fig trees. Since each tree has a different color, bark paper can range from nearly white to deep brown.
Hamilton students will have the opportunity to make paper flags and flowers next week during breakfast and lunch.
Students are dissecting a sheep brain in their Medical Detective class.
Students are working on bookbinding in visual arts class.
John Boozer, Tournament Director for All for One Golf presented Hamilton with a $1,150 donation.
Our students have identified travel as a high-interest activity, and we have worked to build partnerships with various organizations. Our 7th graders and 8th graders are offered school trips to focus on adventure and history. The cost of these trips may inhibit many of our students from having access to these trips, so we offer various scholarships, based on need. This contribution will go to our scholarship fund, which allows more students to attend these extracurricular travel opportunities.
