Resources for Families
Denver Public Schools is committed to being a Safe and Welcoming School District for all students and families. Our communities are aware of ongoing community discord, and violence that occurs across our world that may force families to flee their countries of origin. Often, those events impact a student’s and family’s sense of safety and wellness.
Family Resources
We also know that such events can extend beyond the school and require additional support for the family. Below are community resources accessible to our families.
- Colorado Crisis Services offers multiple walk-in centers around the Denver-metro area and access to a free and confidential Crisis Textline at 1-844-493-8255.
- Mental Health Center of Denver provides services for youth and adults in response to mental health needs following exposure to trauma.
- Students may access services from the
- Asian Pacific Development Center located in Aurora, Colorado provides services for Asian-American populations for a variety of needs.
- The African Community Center of Denver supports refugees and immigrants rebuild safe and sustainable lives in Denver.
- Jewish Family Services provides specialized services for refugee and immigrant populations.
- Lutheran Family Services is a faith based, non-profit human services agency providing adoption, foster care, older adults & caregiver, prevention, and refugee services since 1948.
- Catholic Charities of Denver Catholic Charities of Denver shelters, feeds, houses, educates, counsels and provides emergency assistance and critical services to our neighbors across Northern Colorado.
- Justice and Mercy League: Legal Aid Center Provides free civil legal services through representation, workshops, and consultation clinics. All services are offered in English and Spanish. Interpreters are also available in other languages as needed, including ASL.
- International Rescue Committee Helps people whose lives and livelihood are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and regain control of their future.
- Transfiguration of Our Lord: Ukrainian Catholic Church The only Ukrainian church in Denver, offers faith-based support.
