Message from Mrs. Dillon
Our 6th-grade classes have started their virtual field trip workshops with the Mizel Museum in their advisory classes. Bridges of Cultural Understanding, the Mizel Museum’s traveling exhibits and associated programming, teach cross-cultural understanding through an interactive presentation of themes and rituals from around the world. Ask your child about it and encourage a discussion on what they have learned. Our 7th and 8th graders will start their workshops within the next few weeks.
We will be offering a virtual Parent Trauma Training on Wednesday, April 27th from 5:30-6:30 pm. Please join us by clicking on this link.
In-Person Tours
Our Spring in-person tour is this Sat., April 4th from 9:00 am-11:00 am. Reserve your spot TODAY!

Youth Symposium Summer for Grade 6-8 Program
This 2-week Summer Youth Symposium serves as a growth opportunity for diverse students entering grades 6, 7, or 8 to engage, explore, and learn from high school youth leaders about a shared topic of interest. Skilled, racially and culturally-diverse high schoolers will follow a peer mentor model to co-develop and co-facilitate programs for middle school student cohorts.
The YS is rooted in the district’s commitment to equity, including our DPS Equity Statement, and in-district transition priorities on student experience and achievement. See the flier below for more information.
AEA Summer Program for incoming 9th-graders
The AEA summer program will serve as an immersive 4-week pilot cultural identity and ethnic studies program on Black/African-American & Latinx experiences and ancestral histories. This space will also provide opportunities to unpack and explore varied racial, social, historic, and modern civic complexities facing marginalized populations and communities in the 21st Century. We know that social studies curriculum education (ethnic studies and cultural learnings) in the middle grades can contain significant gaps with respect to Black/African-American and Latinx perspectives and experiences.
Therefore, our initial focus on incoming 9th graders, especially Black/African-American & Latinx students, is a purposeful opportunity to address current efforts to strengthen student achievement, elevate student voices, and to provide the encouragement and support students’ need to grow cultural and racial identities and understanding. It is our hope for AEA participants to carry forward their remarkable ancestral learnings, histories of resilience, and excellence into the upcoming school year. All incoming 9th-grade students are welcome to apply.
Please use the following webpage for both AEA & YS STUDENT Enrollments.
Opt-In for 2022-23 Transportation Beginning April 15
The Opt-In Program for the 2022-23 school year will go live April 15 and close June 30. Families of eligible students will need to log into Parent Portal and opt-in their student if they require DPS transportation services. The Opt-In Program helps the Transportation Team properly allocate resources and make plans for students who intend to ride the bus. Gathering this data early will ensure more timely and efficient transportation at the start of the school year. If families do not opt-in by June 30, bus routes will be planned without those students. This doesn’t change their student’s eligibility, but it could cause a delay in service. Please see this flier. Questions? Email transportation@dpsk12.org.

Staying Safe and Healthy
We have automatic no-touch drinking fountains for students to fill their water bottles. Students are not allowed to drink water directly from the water fountain. Please make sure students bring a water bottle to school every day.
Students must bring a mask to school and wear it properly, covering their mouth and nose. If a student is not wearing their mask properly, we will call parents/guardians to support us and pick them up from school if the behavior continues. Please help us at home by talking to your student about proper mask usage and by providing them with a mask that fits comfortably.

Thank you to everyone that supported the Skate City Skate night. We had over 220 participants and the PTSA made $880 for programming and staff appreciation events. The evening was a lot of fun for the kids and it was a great community-building event. We look forward to another Skate Night in May.
Mark your calendars for another virtual trivia event on Saturday, April 23rd. See flyer for more information.
We will vote on the PTSA board for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year at our April 13th general meeting. If you are interested in a PTSA board position for next year or have questions please email us at hamiltonptsadenver@gmail.com.
Upcoming Events
Thank you for your continued support of the PTSA and we look forward to more opportunities to serve in 2022!
Students use the Chromebooks assigned to them every day in class and we need your partnership. It is the student’s responsibility to charge their Chromebook each night and to take good care of the device. When a student loses their Chromebook, a 280 dollars replacement fee will be added to their account. The fee will need to be paid by the family before a new device is checked out to the student. Please contact wesley_akers@dpsk12.net if you have questions about devices.
