August 2023

Dear Hamilton Families,

I am so excited to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! I hope your time away from school was relaxing, fun, peaceful, enjoyable, and all the things you wanted your summer to be. My name is Fernanda Dillon, and I am honored to serve as the School Principal at Hamilton.

The purpose of this communication is to share important information about the beginning of the school year. Please read through the entire document carefully. If you have questions about the information, do not hesitate to reach out to me or Hamilton’s Assistant Principals:

Required Registration

Every family is required to either complete registration virtually or come to Hamilton to complete registration in person. If you update your student’s registration/information online, you don’t need to come to Hamilton.

  • To register in person:
    • Be prepared to bring proof of address, birth certificate and immunization records to the school on August 8th or 9th from 9 am-11:30 am and 1 pm-3 pm.
  • To register virtually:

During in-building registration, you will also have the opportunity to meet our support staff and pick up a free backpack if needed.

1st Week of School Phase In

A gradual entry will give students and teachers opportunities to engage in relationship building, learn school routines and get their new lockers. Students pick up their schedules on the first day of school.

  • All 6th Grade Students start school on Monday, August 21st
  • All 7th Grade Students start school on Wednesday, August 23rd. They DO NOT attend school on August 21st or 22nd.
  • All 8th Grade students start school on Thursday, August 24th. They DO NOT attend school on August 21st, 22nd, or 23rd.

Transportation

If your student is eligible for transportation, make sure you know the route assigned to your family.

Breakfast/Lunch

Beginning August 2023, breakfast and lunch is provided at no cost to all students. It is important for all families to complete a free and reduced meal application each school year to support our school receiving funds from the State of Colorado. The application is available now on www.MySchoolApps.com

  • Breakfast is free for ALL students, and will be served from 8:20 am to 9:00 am.
  • Each student will receive lunch for FREE each day or they can bring food from home.
  • Students will be able to purchase snacks from the Cafeteria during lunch if they would like to consume items that are not included in the lunch meal.

Supplies

Your student’s teachers may have additional recommendations for supplies specific to their content.

Below you will find the school supply list for 6th-8th grade Hamilton students. Some teachers may have additional supplies for their classes.

School-to-Home Communication via Digital Deets

Hamilton will be using Digital Deets to streamline our communication this year. The system helps to disseminate school-to-home information smoothly and effectively. Their “one app for all” solution enables all members of a school community to easily receive information. Here’s how you can sign up:

  1. Head to www.digitaldeets.com or download their mobile app available for iOS and Android.
  2. Sign up and connect to your child. (No Digital Deets Code for your child? No problem! Use the Look it UpLink.)
  3. You will begin to receive targeted, relevant information related to your children.

Back to School Night

Family and School partnership is essential for student success.

  • Thursday, August 24th in the auditorium beginning at 5:00 pm
  • Principal Dillon greets and welcomes families in the auditorium
  • Adjourn and follow your student’s schedule and meet all teachers
  • Teachers introduce themselves to you and share important class information

Our school is honored to partner with you in order to foster a caring, productive, predictable and safe learning environment where every student thrives and practices IB Learner Profile Attributes: Caring, Balanced, Reflective, Principled, Thinker, Inquirer, Knowledgeable, Risk Taker, Open Minded and Communicator.

Sincerely,
