PTSA need helpers and volunteers

I am reaching out to you today because PTSA is in need of help for the 2024/25 school year.

As you know, we work hard to ensure that our staff at Hamilton is appreciated throughout the year and we partner with our teachers and admin to coordinate and support events at school and within the community. While fundraising is part of our process, there is a lot more that happens within PTSA.

Our current board is changing and there are a few of us who are phasing out due to our students moving on or we have served the maximum time in our position. In order for our PTSA to continue for years to come, we are looking for current 6th and 7th grade parents to step up and fill some positions.

Here are our current needs (in order of importance):

  • PTSA Co-President: work with the current President to learn the role and hopefully take over for the 25/26 school year. Host and attend monthly meetings, help coordinate teacher appreciation events, support school with fall festival and multicultural night, assist with fundraising events and plan community events throughout the year. 3-6 hour commitment per month. Minimum of 1 year in role, maximum of 2. I will be leaving Hamilton after the 24/25 school year.
  • Fall Festival Crew: Assist with planning and carrying out the fall festival for the 24/25 school year. Jobs to be filled can be big or small. No need to attend meetings, needs can be communicated to you.
  • Staff Lounge Stockers: We need 2-3 more parents who are willing to stock the staff lounges 1-2 times per month throughout the school year. Snacks will be provided to you, you just need to stock them. 1 hour time commitment per month. Meetings not required.
  • Dine Outs Coordinator: Organize, schedule and communicate our monthly dine outs. We have a spreadsheet of what we have done in the past including contacts. This is basically calling or sending emails and the dates can be planned out in advance. 1-2 hour time commitment per month. Meetings not required.
  • Plant Sales Coordinator: Organize, schedule and communicate our two plant sales per year. 2-3 hour commitment in late Oct/ early November and late March/early April. Meetings not required.
  • Student Council Liaison: We need 2 parents who are willing to work with StuCo to ensure they are being supported by PTSA. This would include helping organize concession sales at outdoor home games in the fall and spring. Attending a few StuCO meetings could be helpful but not required. 4 hour commitment in fall and spring.
  • General Helpers: we really need a list of people we can contact when volunteer opportunities and tasks arise. No need to attend meetings, no need to always be available. We will just communicate with the group as needs arise and you can determine if you are available to help.

As you can see, we need a lot of roles to be filled. Please consider helping! We are a pretty fun crew and an easy going PTSA. We are small and we intend to stay that way! Unfortunately, if these roles do not get filled, it will significantly impact our amazing school!
