The Words We Teach Art contest was started in 2023 through a partnership between Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design (RMCAD) and The Center on Colfax to tell LGBTQ history through art making.
The Spring 2024 submission guidelines focus on the story of activists in the Transexual, Gay, Lesbian, Defense Coalition (TGLDC) which protested the killing of Irene De Soto and Tracy Levi at the hands of Denver Police in 1977-78. This was the first time in Colorado’s history of political activism that focused on police violence and transgender lives; it might be one of the first in the country. DPS Asian Education Advisory Council is now accepting nominations for the 38th Annual AEAC Awards. Please nominate an Asian student in one of these categories: Academics, Leadership, or Special Talent. We are also accepting adult nominations: administrator, teacher, para, parent volunteer, and special service provider. Attached are the forms. There is a student essay portion. The Hamilton Student Council spearheaded an initiative aimed at collecting and donating new and gently used books to our neighborhood school, Holm Elementary. This week, our dedicated student council members spent two hours at Holm Elementary, engaging with students and fostering a love for reading. Across eight classrooms, our students had the pleasure of reading to eager young minds, creating memorable and enriching experiences for both parties involved. The enthusiasm and appreciation from the students at Holm Elementary made our efforts truly rewarding and impactful.
El Consejo Estudiantil de Hamilton encabezó una iniciativa destinada a recolectar y donar libros nuevos y usados en buen estado a nuestra escuela del vecindario, Holm Elementary. Esta semana, nuestros dedicados miembros del consejo estudiantil pasaron dos horas en la Primaria Holm, interactuando con los estudiantes y fomentando el amor por la lectura. En ocho aulas, nuestros estudiantes tuvieron el placer de leerle a mentes jóvenes entusiastas, creando experiencias memorables y enriquecedoras para ambas partes involucradas. We extend our gratitude to the DPS SPARK Career Exploration team and our invaluable local partners for their support in making our Career Fair at Hamilton Middle School a success. Thanks to their dedication and collaboration, we were able to create a dynamic and inclusive event that provided interested students with the opportunity to explore various career paths and ignite their passions.
