DPS Celebrating a Husky

Patricia ThrockmortonELA-S Math teacher for Newcomers, Hamilton Middle School“Her passion and commitment to Newcomers inspires me everyday. She goes above and beyond to support students who are still adjusting to their new school. Mrs. T (as her students call her) has created strong connections with her students and their families, becoming a trusted adult for many of them. For those students who do not advocate yet for themselves, Mrs. T has a voice and comforting words to make them feel welcome and loved.” — Johanna Melo Laffey

A huge SHOUTOUT to our PTSA and Hamilton parents for helping to stock the Hamilton staff Lounge! The members of the Hamilton staff now have a cabinet full of goodies to keep them nourished and smiling throughout the day!

If you missed the donation window and still would like to help out, please consider donating to the PTSA fund. We will be using the donated money for additional snacks and to purchase perishable items such as fruit and veggies.

Opt-In for 2022-23 Transportation Beginning April 15

The Opt-In Program for the 2022-23 school year will go live April 15 and close June 30. Families of eligible students will need to log into Parent Portal and opt-in their student if they require DPS transportation services. The Opt-In Program helps the Transportation Team properly allocate resources and make plans for students who intend to ride the bus. Gathering this data early will ensure more timely and efficient transportation at the start of the school year. If families do not opt-in by June 30, bus routes will be planned without those students. This doesn’t change their student’s eligibility, but it could cause a delay in service. Please see this flier. Questions? Email transportation@dpsk12.org.

Students must bring a mask to school and wear it properly, covering their mouth and nose. If a student is not wearing their mask properly, we will call parents/guardians to support us and pick them up from school if the behavior continues. Please help us at home by talking to your student about proper mask usage and by providing them with a mask that fits comfortably.
