Hamilton Administration Updates

Message from Mrs. Dillon

We can’t wait to see you virtually during our Trauma Training on April 27th from 5:30-6:30 pm.  The training looks at how any type of traumatic experience can affect the development of the brain and how to counter those experiences with strategies that are good for everyone, not just for the students that have experienced trauma. Join us to learn strategies that create safety and connection to benefit you, your family, and our Huskies!

What types of trauma does the trauma-informed training for parents address? The types of trauma that we talk about range from acute, or a one-time traumatic experience, to chronic or complex trauma, which is ongoing and prolonged.

Does it include only major traumas and events or does it also include smaller traumas? The training looks at how any type of traumatic experience can affect the development of the brain and how to counter those experiences with strategies that are good for everyone, not just for the students that have experienced trauma.

8th Grade Continuation

Please consider sharing your photos with Hamilton for the 8th-grade Continuation Slide Show. You can upload your files here. Continuation will be held on Friday, May 27th from 5:30-7:00 pm. Click here for 8th-grade continuation requirements.

Important Information on Transportation

The Opt-In Program for the 2022-23 school year will go live April 15 and close June 30. Families of eligible students will need to log into Parent Portal and opt-in their student if they require DPS transportation services. The Opt-In Program helps the Transportation Team properly allocate resources and make plans for students who intend to ride the bus. Gathering this data early will ensure more timely and efficient transportation at the start of the school year. If families do not opt-in by June 30, bus routes will be planned without those students. This doesn’t change their student’s eligibility, but it could cause a delay in service. Please see this flier. Questions? Email transportation@dpsk12.org.

Staying Safe and Healthy

We have automatic no-touch drinking fountains for students to fill their water bottles. Students are not allowed to drink water directly from the water fountain. Please make sure students bring a water bottle to school every day.

Students must bring a mask to school and wear it properly, covering their mouth and nose. If a student is not wearing their mask properly, we will call parents/guardians to support us and pick them up from school if the behavior continues. Please help us at home by talking to your student about proper mask usage and by providing them with a mask that fits comfortably.
