Assessing the behavioral and emotional functioning of children and adolescents can be an effective method of promoting student success. Catching potential problems early allows for the delivery of timely prevention and intervention services to children, their schools, and their families. With early treatment or intervention, the negative impact on behavioral, emotional, social, and academic adjustment can be minimized or eliminated. Unfortunately, many children’s behavioral and emotional problems often remain unidentified. Unlike adults, children typically do not refer themselves for suspected behavioral and emotional problems. Take the parent Behavioral and Emotional Screening System survey to share info about your child. Click here

GIRLS with GADGETS
Enthusiastic Young Writers entering 3rd – 12th grades in the fall of 2023.
GTSA Free DPS Summer Program
This vibrant, forward-thinking four-week in-person program, uses arts and technology to cultivate self-empowerment, self-expression and community care in our jovenes (youth).
These future leaders will work with local artists and community organizations to select and complete a project that positively impacts their local community while learning important life skills like financial literacy.
Alongside each Lxs Jovenes session, is the Youth Advisory Council which is a program that reaches and engages Latinx youth 9-12th grade (ages 15-18). The students are graduates of our Leadership Lab who have the experience needed to transform the Lab into a youth-led program that is more finely attuned to the youth’s needs. We will invite 5-8 students to meet twice a month at Museo after school to collaborate and decide on specific program initiatives. Not only will those students act as an advisory council for the program, but one student will also have the opportunity to become a paid intern and assist in the planning and implementation of the Leadership Lab thereby increasing their leadership skills, ability to mentor younger ones, and gaining knowledge/experience in museum and program processes.

Application for Student Meal Benefits
All Hamilton families should complete this application as it helps the school receive funds. The submission and approval of a Household Application for Student Meal Benefits provide advantages beyond eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals. It also helps ensure students receive the maximum amount of benefits they are eligible for, including discounts on bus passes and some school fees, such as athletics, and reduced AP testing fees. It ensures schools receive additional resources to support healthy meals for students and after-school programs. Your assistance in completing and submitting the Household Application for Student Meal Benefits is greatly appreciated and has the potential to help all DPS schools. Apply now at myschoolapps.com. If you have questions, please email foodservices@dpsk12.org.
